Christmas Market Land Tours

The Voyages brand was built on rivers — but some of Europe's most magical Christmas markets sit inland. We're building a dedicated land-tour comparison section. In the meantime, ask us — we already book these.

Christmas Market Voyages launched as a river-cruise comparison site — eight lines, seven rivers, dozens of sailings. But many of the most beloved markets in Europe aren't on a river at all. Prague sits on the Vltava, not the Danube. Salzburg is Alpine, not riparian. Munich and Innsbruckare inland, festooned with markets the cruise lines can't reach.

We're building a dedicated land-tour section of this site to compare the best ways to visit these markets — by rail, by private transfer, by small-group escorted tour — with the same honest, no-fee planning philosophy you get on the river side. Expect city-by-city guides, market calendars, hotel picks, and pre/post-cruise add-on itineraries.

You don't have to wait for the launch. Our advisors already book these markets every Christmas season — as standalone land tours, as pre- or post-cruise extensions, or as fully-escorted multi-city trips. Tell us where you want to wander, and we'll build it.

These are the most-requested land add-ons for our river-cruise clients. Tap one to start a conversation.

Prague Christmas Markets

Old Town Square & Wenceslas Square — two of Europe's most beautiful markets, framed by Gothic spires. Pair with a Danube embarkation from Passau or Nuremberg.

Salzburg & Munich

Mozartplatz and the Residenzplatz in Salzburg, plus Munich's Marienplatz — both reachable by rail from a Danube or Rhine disembarkation. Festive, walkable, iconic.

Why a land tour?

Markets the rivers don't reach

Three reasons travelers add a land stay to their Christmas-market trip — or skip the river entirely.

Iconic inland markets

Prague, Salzburg, Munich, Innsbruck — fairytale Old Towns with cathedral-backdrop markets the cruise ships simply can't access.

More time per city

Land tours let you linger — three nights in one market, dinner reservations, day-trips to surrounding towns. No 6am sailings.

Pre- or post-cruise add-ons

Most river sailings start or end near a major rail hub. A 2-3 night land extension is the easiest way to see one more market.
